FAQ
Common questions regarding our products, fueling strategies, and delivery logs.
Usage & Fueling
What are energy gels, and how do they work?
Energy gels are highly concentrated, easy-to-swallow carbohydrate mixtures designed for endurance athletes. During exercise, your body burns glycogen stores. Gels deliver immediate glucose directly to your bloodstream, sparing muscle glycogen reserves and delaying fatigue.
When should I take energy gels during a race?
For events longer than 60 minutes, we recommend taking your first STRIKE gel around 30 to 45 minutes into the run, and continuing to consume one gel every 30 to 40 minutes. Use our Fueling Calculator page to generate a precise timeline based on your target pace and race distance.
Do I need to take water with EnerThai gels?
Yes. While our STRIKE gels are formulated with liquid coconut water concentrate and have a thin, fluid texture compared to thick syrups, we still advise chasing each gel with a few sips of water. Water helps lower the gel's concentration in the stomach, promoting faster gastric emptying and preventing gut issues.
Ingredients & Sourcing
Why do some energy gels cause stomach distress?
Stomach issues occur when too many carbohydrates are dumped into the gut at once, saturating the absorption pathways. Traditional gels often use high-fructose corn syrup or excessive single-source glucose that sits in the stomach. EnerThai utilizes a scientific 1:0.8 Maltodextrin-to-Fructose ratio alongside natural fruit purees and coconut water, which bypass the stomach quickly and use two separate absorption channels.
Are EnerThai gels suitable for vegans or vegetarians?
Our SUNRISE, STRIKE, and SUNSET gels are all 100% vegan, dairy-free, and plant-based, made entirely from natural fruit purees, starches, and organic pea protein.
Which gels contain caffeine?
Our SUNRISE (Prepare) gel contains 70mg of natural caffeine sourced from organic green tea extract to boost mental focus and prime your muscles before you start. STRIKE and SUNSET are entirely caffeine-free.
Storage & Training
How should I store my EnerThai gels?
Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. There is no need to refrigerate them, although some runners prefer the taste of chilled gels during hot summer training runs. Since we use pasteurized natural fruit purees and clean starches, they remain fresh for up to 12 months. Refer to the expiration date printed on the pouch seals.
Should I practice fueling in training?
Absolutely. "Training your gut" is just as important as training your legs. Your digestive system adapts to absorbing carbohydrates under cardiovascular strain. We recommend practicing your race-day fueling plan during your weekly long runs to ensure comfort and optimal glycemic absorption on race day.
Can I use these gels for sports other than running?
Yes. EnerThai gels are excellent for any high-intensity, long-duration athletic effort, including road cycling, mountain biking, triathlons, trail running, obstacle courses, football, and hiking.
